Mechanical System Design

The final product will be an assembly of the following sub systems
1. Display Screen
2. Printed Circuit board
3. Battery
4. Buttons
5. Enclosure
6. Strap

Since the objective of the project is to build a prototype, failure analysis considerations have not been done. The product developed may fail due to impact forces, application of unnatural stress by the user.

The objective of the mechanical system design is to develop a product that has the following features:
1. Hold together the sub systems without dislocation when the product is being used
2. Be as compact as possible
3. Easy to manufacture faster

CAD Drawings have been made for the sub systems using Solidworks. The back part of enclosure has been manufactured by laser cutting acrylic plate. The front part of enclosure, buttons have been manufactured using FormLabs 3D printer. Velcro hook and loop fasteners and foam padding have been used to make the strap. The PCB has been manufactured by Bay Area Circuits (who used our Eagle drawings). The final product has been made by assembling the sub assemblies.

Detailed CAD drawings can be found here.
